Brothers, Parents, and Alumni,
It is with great pleasure to share with you the results of last nights College of Charleston Greek Life Borelli Awards. The Borelli Awards, recognize Greek chapters and individuals that exemplify outstanding performance in categories to the likes of scholarship, leadership, philanthropy, fundraising, and character attributes. Upon rechartering on campus at the College of Charleston in Spring 2010, it has been our goal to steps in improving the overall operation and well being of our chapter that has a positive impact on the members of our chapter and our community.
Im pleased to announce that our hard work brought us an abundance of recognition this year. Sigma Alpha Epsilon took home an astonishing 4 chapter recognition awards. Those awards include:
-Excellence in Membership and Leadership Development
-Excellence in Academic Programming
-Most Improved GPA
In addition, our overall scores in certain categories privileged us with the grand award of Chapter of Achievement.
Over the past two years, we have taken steps to structure our leadership and align our members with scholarship, leadership, and the qualities of a True Gentlemen. We believe that overall our members education comes first and takes priority over all other activities. We hope to maintain and improve our chapter success and improve in other areas, especially philanthropy.
Philanthropy is considered one of our primary goals as a member of the Greek Community. In the Fall we hosted our first annual Paddy Murphy Fundraiser in which we raised over $4,500 for the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation and 3 other benefiting charities. Last spring several members volunteered with the local Charleston WaterKeeper at their annual Water Ball and Morris Island Cleanup. Members have met community leaders and industry leadersTed Turner, Ed Fuller, CEO Marriot Intl., and many more) at these events and at several of our Leadership Development Schools to which we sent over 10 members to last year.
These events not only benefit our community as a whole, but prove invaluable when shaping our members professional and citizenship skills. The ability for our members to learn and network with the some of the best leaders, improve the quality of our waterways, raise awareness of the #1 cancer in men age 13-35 while continuing to excel makes it a true honor to lead this group of young men.
As we plan to host at least 4 philanthropic events for the remainder of this semester and with plans to send upwards of 10-12 members to leadership school this spring and summer, we would greatly appreciate the continued support of our alumni and parents.
Feel free to contact myself anytime for opportunities to get involved or feel free to make a monetary donation online at our website www.saecofc.com to further our mission and goals.
In closing I would like to extend a huge thank you and congratulations to everyone involved. Without everyones contribution, hard work, and enthusiasm this would not be possible. Great Job!
Parents, Please join our mailing list at www.saecofc.com if you havent already and stay tuned for a parents and alumni weekend and a monthly newsletter! See what your son's are really experiencing and get involved.
Fraternally,
Ryan Naughton, President
